What is VistACom?
back: VistA_Meaningful_Use_Enhancements
VistACom is a mobile/desktop user interface to VistA which helps providers meet the requirements of Stage 1 Meaningful Use for interoperability, Meaningful Use measure reporting, and Quality Measurement reporting.
VistACom can be accessed from the Tools menu of CPRS or directly via a URL into the VistA system. When accessed from CPRS, no additional signon is required. When accessed from a URL, the user is prompted to enter their VistA Access and Verify code and select a patient.
VistACom presents 5 tabs to the user: Mail, Files, CCR, MU (Meaningful Use), and Quality.
The Mail tab presents the user's VistA Mailman Inbox, with an indicator that shows which messages have xml documents attached. When the user clicks on a message, the message text is displayed. If the message contains an attachment, the Display Attachment button and the Save to Patient button will also appear.
Display Attachment Button
When the Display Attachment button is pressed, the XML document that is attached to the messages is displayed in the browser using an xsl stylesheet. Both CCR and CCD xml documents are supported as incoming documents.
Save to Patient Button
The Save to Patient button allows the user to save the xml attachment (a CCD or a CCR) to VistA associated with at patient's record. A window appears and the user can select the VistA Patient to associate with the XML document and the XML document is then saved to VistA and associated with the Patient's record. All saved documents for a patient can be viewed using the Files tab in VistAcom.
