Default
A response the computer considers the most probable answer to the prompt being given. It is identified by double slash marks (//) immediately following it. This allows you the option of accepting the default answer or entering your own answer. To accept the default you simply press the enter (or return) key. To change the default answer, type in your response.

Prompts that have an answer followed by double slashes (//) are called defaults; this means a response has been pre-selected, based on the most likely response or the previous response to this prompt. For example, the prompt “Time Limit:” may have a default of 1 year for Lab Orders, and would appear as: Time Limit: 1Y//. Defaults save you time by allowing you to just hit return rather than typing an answer.
