Configuration Issues

Configuration of a VistA system requires attention and decisions about the following things:
- Who is going to use the system
- What privileges will they need (Menu Options and Security Keys)
- What progress notes titles they need to access
- What role they will have for progress note access/modification/signing
- What type of work they are going to do.
- Simple demographics, mail code, telephone number, SSNs, etc.
- What locations are going to be in the system
- What department/service line/care line the location is part of
- What SERVICE/SECTION they belong to, and who is in each of those.
- If equipment inventory or engineering is going to be used
- then each physical room needs to be in the computer.
- Will care is going to be provided in a room/location ?
- What are the corresponding scheduling entities to those spaces
- What equipment is going to be a part of the system
- printers
- What location are they installed.
- Are they the closest printer for lab results, orders etc?
- What DEVICE corresponds to that printer
- What is the appropriate TERMINAL TYPE
- printers
- what is the workflow for tasks of the staff
- how will it be done with VistA
